PIR Motion Sensor Alarms
Motion detectors are one of the most popular products we have available due to their ability to alert neighbours, external security companies and homeowners whenever the system is triggered. Perfect for fully integrating alongside a number of other security systems such as indoor CCTV, monitored burglar alarms and auto-diallers, the simple approach of installing a motion detector in your home is the most cost effective way to keep your property safe and secure.
What is a motion detector?
Motion detectors are designed to add an extra layer of security to your home.
These alarms will send signals once they pick up on movement in the room after they have been activated or have detected that there is someone in your home. The way in which these signals are received depends on how your motion sensor is set up. We can make it so the police are alerted if more than one detector goes off. And, of course, you will be immediately alerted as soon as the system picks up any type of motion in your home.
Why not consider integrating your motion detector with an audible alarm to ensure your neighbours are alerted in an emergency or even a SMART CCTV system so you can keep an eye on your property via your mobile or tablet?
Types of home motion detector
There are many different types of motion detectors for home security on the market today.
- Passive Infrared Detectors (PIR)
- Active Infrared sensors
- Active Ultrasonic Sensors
- Passive ultrasonic detectors
We prefer to work with passive infrared sensors (PIR sensors). The PIR system will create an alert whenever the sensor detects a heat source and are incredibly easy to both use and install.
Pet friendly sensors
Many homeowners worry that such a system won’t work in your home because they have pets however there is no need to fret.
Whilst there are no products which are exclusively designed for pets, one of the main advantages of the PIR sensor is that it will only account for heat generated by a human i.e. a would-be intruder.
The majority of motion systems actually take into consideration the size and weight of your pets, ensuring the alarm does not sound every time your dog is in front of the sensor so you can leave the system activated at night or when you are at work.
DIY Motion Sensors vs. ProtectMyProperty
We generally do not advise to buying an off-the-shelf security solutions as there is no way of knowing whether it is right system for your property or if this is the most effective product available.
Every house is different and has different security demands; meaning one-size-fits-all motion sensors are rarely effective. Instead, our professionals will carry out a free security survey at your home to determine the best course of action.
